rodríguez house
santa ana, 2002 Located in Santa Ana, Rodríguez house responds to the fragmentation of the traditional costa rican plan, which was twisted and displaced in two clearly differentiated places –the private section facing north and the social sector on the south. The former “zaguan” is exploited as an ax that concludes with the exterior gardens. The search for a contemporary house, adapted to the site, was a constant intention during the design process. |
The roof generates crossed ventilation and allows infiltration of indirect light, which causes a comfortable internal space. Its formal language invites to reflect on international movement, which has influenced the new Latin American generations. Its fragmented composition and vanguardist expressionism stands out. With a simple functional program, this house of 110m2 intends to be rational and expressionist at the same time, a language that reminds of the currently changing times. |
