The project is located in the deteriorated zone of the city of San José. Hatillo is characterized by being and housing development with a cottonwood forest and small parks that go “sewing” the zone. However –by being merely habitational– the importance of proposing a project of mixed use and that contained mainly an art center was considered Works like the Mercat de Santa Caterina, the Fort Pienc Block (both in Barcelona) and the España Library Park (Medellín) where directly influations.
The deteriorated site, lacking services and cultural spaces, was worked on. The proposal includes: library, theatre/auditorium, museum, public space, infantile nursery, café and bookstore. This last two (public space and services) where designed in the main floor, which was open to favor the pedestrian circulations.

The location of the cultural elements replies to the context. The library contains a wide and large window of triple height going to a forest and supporting the high school that is placed in the nearby areas.
The museum is the central body with windows that escapes towards the context and the theater is adapted to the topography, conforming a triangular volume in plan. Above this, a plaza and restaurant were designed, where one can observe the Sabana zone (in the western area of San José).
