access bridge to manuel antonio national park
quepos, 2001

Affectations developed on protected areas lead us to a constant interaction with natural, historical and geographical context. It consists on the modification of an already created natural space, where the symbolism of the proposals acquires high levels of cultural influence. Hence, Access Bridge to Manuel Antonio National Park is conceived as a duct where hundreds of people begin a contact with the environment.
The texture of the envelopments has been inspired on Costa Rican coastal constructions, built since the 19th century, and the vanguard worldwide proposals by Renzo Piano, Mecanno and Jorge Rigamonti. Climatically, the planes provoke necessary shadow in extended routes, especially for the consideration of elderly people.
A vertical element rises as a landmark for daytime as well as nighttime, which projects in plan as a viewpoint where the visitors can continue enjoying the place without affecting the regular circulation of people.

A magical link with nature, results the main axis of the project, located on one of the most visited parks of the country.
